New for 2018 Assessment Reporting—Taskstream System and Training
Reporting requirements will not change this year, but the way reports are submitted are changing. The Office of Assessment is transitioning to our new Taskstream Assessment Management System. This online system will allow departments to easily create assessment reports, keep all data and files together, and allow for easy reflection on the assessment process and reviews.
We will be holding hands-on workshops in early June to provide training on the use of our new system. We anticipate that with a short training session, it will be very easy to complete your assessment update reports! Due to the new Taskstream system, we ask that all departments send a representative to participate in one of the training sessions. Please see below for dates, times, and RSVP links; these are repeat sessions, so you may attend any one that works with your schedule.
|Tuesday, June 5||2:00-3:30PM||Kilcawley Center, Bresnahan Training Room||RSVP|
|Wednesday, June 6||9:30-11:00AM||Kilcawley Center, Bresnahan Training Room||RSVP|
|Wednesday, June 13||1:00-2:30PM||Kilcawley Center, Bresnahan Training Room||RSVP|
Assessment Update Resources
Co-Curricular Assessment Handbook*: This document is meant to be a resource to those new(er) to assessment activities and a reference to those who have been participating in assessment activities for some time. The Handbook is in two parts; Part 1 explains the steps in the assessment process, including how to write SLOs, select methods and analyze results. Part 2 outlines the reporting elements here at YSU.
Please note: the Office of Assessment is in the process of revising training materials to include Taskstream guidance, but all elements of reporting will remain the same (only the submission format will change).
Assessment Consultation Opportunities
To assist with development of reports or working in the new Taskstream system, the Office of Assessment will be providing drop in consultation sessions. Attendees can come anytime within the time frame and no RSVP is needed. For assistance in Taskstream, we have a laptop (but you may also bring your own). The offerings will be:
|Wednesday, June 27th||1:00-3:00PM||Jones 3049|
|Thursday, June 28th||9:00-11:00AM||Jones 3049|
If these timeframes do not work with your schedule, you can contact the OOA to schedule a meeting.

Co-Curricular Departmental Student Learning Outcomes, Learning Opportunity Maps, and Assessment Plans
In addition to being in the Co-Curricular Assessment Handbook, these resources were used in 2015-2016 to develop co-curricular student learning outcomes, learning opportunity maps, and assessment plans. Please contact the Office of Assessment if your department needs to complete these 2015 and/or 2016 reporting requirements.
Co-Curricular Taskstream Training Tutorials: Need help navigating through the Taskstream site? Look no further, these tutorials provide step by step instructions for some of the most common actions done on the Taskstream website. Tutorials come complete with screenshots and helpful tips about the processes.
Student Learning Outcomes: Departments develop a set of SLOs that represent the overall learning goals for each department, similar to the way that academic programs have a set of (usually) 3-6 learning outcomes for students upon completion of a course of study. This approach will allow departments to strongly link assessment efforts to their department and unit missions. Typically, departments would then cycle through the outcomes on a multi-year cycle, planned in advance.

Learning Opportunity Maps: A learning opportunity map links SLOs to programs, services, and interventions the department uses to facilitate learning in the SLO areas. The aim is to promote alignment between the activities offered and the core learning goals of the department. If you have not had experience completing a curriculum map before, scheduling a short training session with our office is helpful.

Assessment Plan: Building on the development of SLOs and a Learning Opportunity Map, departments developed an assessment plan for all their student learning outcomes. A comprehensive assessment plan enables greater integration of assessment into departmental activities and assist in strategic planning.
