With completion of application and approval from the Director of Distance Education, YSU faculty adopting an Open Educational Resource (OER) will qualify for a mini-grant of $750. If an entire department adopts an OER, there will be a mini-grant of $1,500 that will be paid to the department and dispersed at the Chair’s discretion. In order to be eligible for the mini-grant, the open resource would need to be the main source used in the class, not a supporting resource.
YSU is a member of the Open Textbook Network (OTN) founded at the University of Minnesota. Faculty can browse or search for texts in the Open Textbook Library. If you find one that you are interested in possibly adopting, you can complete an application and with approval from the Director of Distance Education, you will qualify to receive a $200 dollar mini-grant.
Complete the OER Application, print it out then submit it to the Office of Distance Education, Attn: Joe Alberti. If you have any questions, please email Joe Alberti or contact him by phone at 330-941-1535.
