YSU provides open access to a high-quality and affordable education, offering a broad range of associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees and certificate nationally recognized and accredited programs (link to list of majors’ page). Moreover, YSU currently has the lowest tuition among Ohio's comprehensive public universities. At YSU, two 16-week semesters comprise the regular academic year which begins in late August. A 12-week session, and three 6-week summer sessions are also available.
For admission and tuition purposes someone is considered an international applicant if they are NOT a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, or do not hold refugee, or political asylum status. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, refuges or political asylum holders should fill out the domestic student application form. As an international applicant you will be required to submit the following materials to be considered for Undergraduate Admission to Youngstown State University. An applicant who has completed high school /secondary school in the United States or a foreign country, or already has a degree but is seeking another undergraduate degree.
An applicant who has attended or is currently attending a university or post-secondary institution, for at least one semester, and would like to transfer to Youngstown State University to obtain a bachelor's degree. This classification includes postgraduate applicants from other institutions seeking additional undergraduate course work.
An applicant meeting all the requirements for admission except the specified level of English proficiency may be admitted conditionally. This admission is conditional upon successful completion of English language study at YSU’s English Language Institute (ELI).
