Your (the student's) school district CCP coordinator, or school counselor, reviews course options and high school graduation requirements with you to determine what courses to register for.
How do I register for a CCP course?
If you are taking classes in your high school...
You will register for the high school based courses at the same time you complete the online CCP application. See below for instructions on how to change your registration.
If you are taking classes on campus...
Students cannot enroll for campus or online courses, or change their registration, without meeting with a YSU academic advisor.
NEW students (including returning students taking classes on campus for the first time) will register for on campus or online courses during your mandatory orientation and advisement appointment on the YSU campus.
CONTINUING students must meet with their YSU Academic Advisor prior to registering for classes in the MyYSU portal.
For summer 2018 term, students can register beginning on April 30 at 8:00 pm; for fall 2018, it is July 18 at 8:00 am.
Additional information regarding advising is sent to your YSU email account.
Withdrawing from a CCP Course
Each student enrolled in a CCP course will have the option to withdraw. It is important to remember that you may not be able to withdraw from the actual high school class itself if you are using it to fulfill a high school credit.
Before you withdraw, be sure to consider...
- If you are taking a sequence of courses (i.e. Calculus 1 and Calculus 2), withdrawal from the first course will prevent registration in the second course.
- If you are concerned about your grade affecting acceptance or scholarships in college, talk to your YSU advisor or the CCP staff before officially dropping the course. In many cases, when students transfer the credit from YSU to another institution, the credit will transfer and the GPA will not. Therefore, you would start at your new university with a brand new GPA.
How do I withdraw from a CCP course?
If you are taking classes in your high school
Any student wishing to withdraw from a CCP course must complete a “Change of Registration” form (see below). The form asks for signatures from: (1) the student, (2) a parent, (3) a high-school administrator or counselor and (4) the instructor. It is strongly recommended that you do not wait until the last minute to complete the form. CCP staff must have a completed form in hand by noon the day of the withdrawal deadline.
If you are taking classes online or on-campus
You must speak with your YSU Academic Advisor before you can withdraw from a CCP course.
What are the withdrawal deadlines?
You have 14 days from the start of the term to withdraw with no penalty. That means there is no record that you ever took the course, and the school district will not be charged tuition. If a you drop after the 14th day, there will be a “W” on your YSU transcript, and there may be a financial penalty. See your high school’s financial policy for details.
Adding a CCP Course
If you are taking classes in your high school…
Similar to withdrawing, any student who wishes to add a CCP course must complete a “Change of Registration” form (see below). The form will ask for signatures from: (1) the student, (2) a parent, (3) a high-school administrator or counselor. If a student adds a course after the full refund date and then withdraws from the same course, tuition is not refundable to the school district. Please see your high school’s financial policy for details. The deadline for adding a course is listed on the Change of Registration form (see below).
If you are taking classes online or on-campus…
You must speak with your Academic Advisor before you add a CCP. You have the first seven days of the term to add a course. Please refer to the YSU CCP Calendar (located on the CCP home page, under Helpful Resources) for those dates.
