National PanHellenic Council (NPHC) Recruitment Process
Before joining an NPHC chapter you must attend a Black Greek 101 session.
This information session will help you learn the meaning behind the letters including the creation and purpose of Black Greek organizations. Additionally, hear about the steps to joining one of these chapters. These sessions are for Non-Greeks only. For further information, please contact (330) 941-4702.
If you are interested in joining this semester, you MUST attend one of the following sessions:
January 22 – Ohio Room 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
February 13 – Ohio Room 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Unlike the other councils, traditionally African-American NPHC chapters conduct their membership selection or "membership intake process" independently and at different times. Chapters usually conduct interest meetings that are relatively formal in nature. Students must usually provide transcripts and letters of recommendation. Note that NPHC organizations do not permit freshmen to join during their first semester and some require sophomore standing in order to apply for the intake process.
NPHC chapters embrace a lifetime commitment philosophy and aim to assure the continuance of academic achievement, political awareness, and community service. We strongly encourage those interested in the Membership Intake process to contact the respective NPHC organizations for more information.
