Admitted International Students/Pre-Arrival Information
Congratulations on being admitted to Youngstown State University! Below you will find information that will assist you as you prepare to leave your country and arrive in Youngstown to begin your academic life at YSU. Once again congratulations!!! We look forward to seeing you soon.
ORIENTATION IS MANDATORY! YOU MUST ATTEND ORIENTATION!
International orientation will be held on January 6th – 8th, 2016. Orientation begins at 8:30am at Jones Hall, Room 1034. Please arrive promptly. There are different things that happen every day, and a specific order that everything must happen in order to clear your immigration status and receive your University ID and register for classes. Please be respectful to the schedule.
NOTE:You may get emails from YSU regarding registering for SOAR Orientation. Please ignore them. There is an email glitch in the system and they are mistakenly sending out emails to our international students about the domestic orientation. Your International orientation begins on Wednesday, January 6th, at 8:30am. You need to be attending the internationals student orientation. If you have any questions about any emails you receive, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Free pickup from the Pittsburgh, PA International Airport is available only on Sunday, January 3rd, Monday January 4th, or Tuesday January 5th. If you would like to be picked up on one of these days, you must provide a copy of your flight itinerary, as well as a location to be dropped off. This must be received by December 20th in order to reserve a spot on the pickup schedule.
Please refer to Airport Pick-up and Transportation for more information about the free pick-up or if you are arriving on other dates.
It is mandatory that you either provide proof that you have had a recent negative TB (tuberculosis) test or that you have a test once you arrive at Youngstown State University.
It is recommended, but not mandatory, that you get vaccinations for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- T dp (Tetanus and diphtheria)
- Hepatitis B series
- Chicken pox vaccine
TUITION & FEES:
Tuition and fees are calculated after we register you for classes, and an invoice will be sent to your YSU email account. You will be responsible for paying that invoice soon after receipt. I do not know the exact amount until you register for your classes, because class and lab fees could vary.
At orientation, you will be given information about the different banking options in the area.
