Youngstown State University Penguin Productions, the City of Youngstown, The Summit FM, and JAC Live are proud to announce the fourth annual FEDERAL FRENZY with SMALLPOOLS as the headlining act. This activity-packed music and arts festival will take place in Downtown Youngstown between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018. A variety of indoor venues will host live musical performances by YSU bands throughout the day including The Federal, O’Donold’s Irish Pub & Grill, and Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts, along with two new locations: Lemon Grove and McKelvey Gallery. The event will feature two outdoor stages with performances on the JAC Live Main Stage featuring FRESHPRODUCE., a female hip-hop collective based out of Cleveland; CARLOS JONES & THE P.L.U.S. BAND, a Cleveland-based authentic roots reggae; THE VINDYS, a local powerhouse with a unique blend of pop, jazz, and rock; and SMALLPOOLS, LA-based indie rockers with catchy electro-pop beats. Admission is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required for entrance.
Regional artists featured on The Summit FM (90.7 WKTL Radio), a locally owned and operated member-supported public radio station, will be featured on the second outdoor stage. The Summit’s 330 Stage lineup includes: THE LABRA BROTHERS, a band of brothers focusing on R&B funk and soul with Latin influences; SPY CONVENTION, an eclectic mix of alt-indie and rock; and SPIRIT OF THE BEAR, winners of the 2017 Listener’s Choice Award that have a unique blend of indie rock and hints of electronic beats.
